To get your website content ranking in the search engines requires three vital ingredients, relevancy. Originality and popularity.

Relevancy refers to relvant content. You website and content must be relevant to the keyword you are targeting.

Originality refers not only to original content but also uniques content. This is important because you need to understand that taking your valuable, unique article and pasting it all over the internet will not improve its popularity, rather it will deflate it. Why? Google sees that your content can be found everywhere, its common and therfore not of high value.  So golden rule number 1 is to keep your content on topic for the keyword you are targeting. Also keep your content relevant to the overall theme of your website.

Popularity refers to how popular your content is and is measured in two ways. First popularity is measured by the number of sites linking in to your site and your deep link page. Secondly popularity is measured by the quality or page rank of the sites linking into your site. In other words the more popular the sites linking in to your site the higher the search engines will rank the popularity of your content. Popularity brings us to the second golden rule, only target keywords for which you have a chance of being competitive. So how do you measure if your site and content has the potential to be competitive, the answer to this requires research.  Analysing your competition is critical to your traffic success and you need to consider both onsite and offsite factors in this analyisis including things like page rank, domain age, links, link types ,url’s, descriptions and a host of other onsite variables. The problem is, while you absolutely need to do it, keyword research done manually takes time so here’s what I do.

I do keyword research using a tool called Market Samurai. It literally reduces hours of keyword research into minutes. It allows me to seek out valuable keywords within niches tha I am targetting, it evaluates my competition and presents me with a list of golden nugget keywords to target.

Once I’ve found a keyword for which I can be competitive I  create keyword rich quality content, syndicate it properly to build popularity and get ranked on google page 1. This drives traffic to my site where I generate leads through presenting offers.

So there we have it. Rule 1 only create relevant valuable content and syndicate it properly to generate popularity. Rule 2 only target keywords for which you can be competitive.
